Pregnancy-Special protection from Unfair Dismissal

Employees who are pregnant enjoy special protection from Unfair Dismissal. In this case, an employee sent a P45 whilst on sick leave won a significant award. Read more.

A decision can be appealed to the Labour Court and on a point of law to the High Court.

Appealing does not necessarily mean the decision will change. Though of course, some appeals are successful. In this case it did not.

On a separate note: A lot of WRC cases start or are won inclusive of verbal comments that are made, often as jokes. Canteens, areas for breaks, even work parties are all still part of the work place.
